Raleigh, NC - Field Application Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • The company is looking for a Field Application Engineer (FAE) based in Raleigh, NC
  • This individual will be responsible for supporting the company’s OEM customers designing the company’s silicon devices and systems into their products as well as VARs (Value Added Resellers) offering the company’s products as part of their solutions
  • Ideal candidate should have development background in the fields of board design, firmware development, low level device driver development or application software development
  • The candidate must show good overall understanding of system level issues and be familiar with hi-speed networking technologies and protocols (particularly 10/40Gigabit Ethernet, InfiniBand, Fibre Channel)
  • Responsibilities include technical management of accounts; participating in the project life cycle to include definition, design, software porting, reviews, bring-up and ongoing support; delegating issues to the company’s engineering and drive for solution; preparing and delivering technical training/presentations; and participating in pre-sales activities
Qualifications:

  • BSEE/BSCS or higher
  • 3+ years HW/SW development experience or highly technical support experience
  • Knowledge of networking protocols, including layers 2, 3 and 4
  • Independent. Self-motivated. Dedicated.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Up to 20% travel required
  • Knowledge in InfiniBand networking spec and protocol stack
  • Knowledge in storage protocols (block, file, FC)
  • Knowledge in C, C++ and scripting languages (BASH, Perl, Python)
  • Understanding of Linux/Windows/VMware/Solaris internals
  • Knowledge of IBM server products, design and qualification process
  • Prior or current experience working for IBM as an employee/consultant or supporting IBM as a customer
  • Understanding of server structure and its main components
  • CPU, memory, PCI subsystem, storage subsystem, network interface both from HW and SW perspectives
