Norristown, PA – Business Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION
·         The (Sr.) Business Analyst is responsible for understanding the requirements of the business and assisting the business support team in a role encompassing both traditional BA tasks and occasionally more technical tasks
·         In support of that responsibility, the (Sr.) Business Analyst will also assist subject matter experts, project managers, and business unit managers as necessary to ensure that related technical solutions meet the business needs, and are developed and implemented with high quality
·         The scope of responsibility for the position includes general business support, project support, and application specific maintenance and support activities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Support
·         Serve as a primary contact for Interchange Scheduling and Transmission Service activities and establish a positive, service-oriented relationship with supporting ITS departments to ensure timely and accurate delivery of IT services
·         Learn the business – develop a deep understanding of the business functions and processes and communicate this understanding across the teams
·         Document, track and resolve problems in business systems

Solution delivery
·         Have primary responsibility for all functional deliverables other than application code (work estimates, requirements documentation, conceptual design documentation, detailed design documentation, test plans, migration plans)
·         Schedule and participate in or facilitate and lead (Sr.) meetings as necessary (e.g., requirements definition sessions, design reviews, issue resolution, status meetings, etc.)
·         Schedule and coordinate project and maintenance activities within the department or project team
·         Assist project management team and department management in developing work plans, including scope, milestones, schedule, resources and deliverables
·         Regularly develop status reports regarding workgroup or project team progress
·         Determine and document functional requirements for projects in the client business area and for enhancements to client area systems
·         Coordinate Change Management and Release Schedules
·         Lead Production Migration / Production Readiness planning
·         Ensure appropriate level of controls are applied to work efforts, including security requirements, to ensure efficient delivery of robust, effective business solutions
·         Provide Quality Assurance review during the design, development and testing processes
·         Participate in and lead system testing efforts
·         Assist business clients in developing requirements for and integrating systems from external vendors

REQUIREMENTS:
·         B.S. degree in engineering, computer science, management information systems, or equivalent work experience
·         3-5 years of experience
·         Strong customer and business focus
·         Strong communications skills
·         Experience using the Microsoft Office suite
·         Experience with SQL
·         Demonstrated ability to support multiple projects concurrently
·         Demonstrated ability to produce high quality work products with attention to detail
·         Experience working in a software system delivery methodology
·         Experience working with business and technical staffs to define, document, and track software requirements and design
·         Experience defining and documenting software requirements
·         Experience documenting software designs
·         Experience developing testing artifacts, such as test plans and test cases
·         Experience testing software systems
·         Experience using Microsoft Project
·         Experience designing complex technical applications
·         Excellent knowledge regarding Oracle and SQL
·         Good knowledge of web technologies (HTML, PHP, XML)
·         Development background ( PL/SQL, Java, batch scripting, XML, Java Script)
·         Experience with, or understanding of PJM's System Operations application systems (e.g., eSuite, EMS, eDart, OASIS, PI, etc.)
