Norristown, PA - Database Administrator

JOB DESCRIPTION
  • The database Administrator is responsible for managing development, testing, staging, training and producing database environment
  • The Data Admin is also responsible for creating processes and scripts that will improve proactive monitoring of database performance, availability and security
  • In the process admin will also be responsible for developing shell scripts,  PL/SQL script
  • In addition, the Data Admin is responsible for monitoring the databases, identifying problems and providing quick, efficient  remediation, as well as performance monitoring
  • The data admin will follow all standards, policies, procedures and security requirements of the IT department and the DBA team
  • The scope of responsibility for the position includes project support, as well as maintenance and support activities
  • Data and Integration Services  Department Summary:
  • Data and Integration Services department is responsible for managing data from end to end
  • The department is  responsible to make sure data available all the tim
  • In addition to testing each individual product/application, this team is also responsible for testing the interactions of these products among themselvesSuch interaction mechanisms include but are not limited to SOA enabled Enterprise Service Bus, database transfers, replications, triggers, flat files etc.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor different environment databases
  • Develop new processes and scripts to enhance monitoring of GoldenGate and Oracle processes
  • Work with the application development and support teams to identify and address performance problems
  •  Perform necessary database upgrades and patches
  • Ensure that databases are in compliance with company standards, as well as all relevant configuration determined by DBA team
  • Perform account management, in accordance with requests from Security group
 REQUIREMENTS:
  • DBA must have good working real time experience in ASM, RAC, DG and Golden Gate technology
  • Admin experience in Oracle 11g installations, ASM configuration,  creating multiple node RAC  database is desirable
  • B.S. degree in computer science, management information systems, or equivalent work experience
  • 2 years working experience  of GoldenGate
  • 2 years working experience in RAC, ASM and DataGuard
  • Experience tuning individual SQL queries, database applications, and optimizing databases for performance
  • Experience with data extraction, data export and import tools
  • Experience supporting ORACLE 10 G in an AIX/UNIX environment, Data Pump
  • Real time working experience on Data Guard, RAC, ASM   technologies
  • Experience with logical data modeling, including developing and maintaining data model diagrams (ERD), facilitating structured data modeling meetings
  • Experience working in a highly available 24X7 database environment 
  • Strong customer and business focus
  • Strong documentation and communications skills
  • Experience with  PL/SQl
  • Experience working with very large databases
  • Experience migrating database objects from development through test and into production environments
  • ORACLE certification
  • Experience working in a formal software system delivery methodology
