New London, CT - Development Operations Financial Analyst

Job Description:
  • This role will provide support for Development Operations
  • The analyst will provide support for various financial activities including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, month-end close and presentation development for various functions within Development Operations
  • Ad hoc project support and analysis is also anticipated
  • Reporting – Regular monthly and ad hoc reports to include actual results, comparison to established target levels, and forecasted estimates
  • Will include identification of variances, an understanding of operational drivers, and defining implications to the business along with suggested actions
  • Budget Development – Help prepare and submit the annual budget, including funding levels, capital planning and the categorization and timing of spend
  • Forecasting – Responsible for ongoing analysis of spend and the identification of variances and changes in requirements
  • Month End - Processes monthly transactions to the general ledger along with other required activities
  • Business Analysis Support - Develop a broad understanding of Development Operations financial and operational issues, to provide critical business analysis support to Development Operations, including return on investment resource optimization, productivity analysis, cost savings identification, implementation support and tracking, etc
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Analytical skills Required 4-7 Years
  • Budget Forecasting  Required 4-7 Years
  • Budget tracking  Required 4-7 Years
  • The ideal candidate will have superior financial and analytical skills and a proven track record of professional, academic, and personal achievement. The ability to provide accurate financial planning, forecasting and reporting through rigorous analyses is key to success in this position
  • Knowledge of key strategic and operational drivers in the pharmaceutical industry would be beneficial
  • MOST CRITICAL SKILLS: Financial and analytical skills.  Budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, economic modeling
  • REQUIRED PERSONALITY TRAITS: independent, good communication skills, responsible, professional
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.  MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred, with at least 5 years of related business/financial experience
  • Superior Excel Skills – Vlookups and Pivot Tables
  • Accounting – Knowledge of basic accounting principles i.e. GAAP
  • Knowledge of Financial Planning and Reporting Tools - Cognos, Business Objects and Computron
  • Presentation Development and Delivery – PowerPoint with Business Objects and Excel data
